A section of the Supreme Court was on fire in the early hours of today, though no casualty was recorded.
Speaking with journalists, the Apex Court ‘s Public Relations Officer Mr Festus Akande attributed the cause of the fire to electrical surge in one of the chambers of the justices
He said the fire was put out with the use of fire extinguishers.Akande added that the stories making the rounds on social media that there are casualties are “fake news”, urging members of the public to disregard report of casualties.
It was gathered that the cleaners on duty and some of the workers who resumed early for work detected the fire around 6 in the morning today and raised the alarm.
The workers were said to have used fire extinguishers in the building to combat the fire.
Three offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa, were touched by the fire.
