Osun Assembly Members Dump PDP, Move to Accord

Twenty-five lawmakers of the Osun State House of Assembly, originally elected on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform, have officially defected to the Accord Party.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, confirmed that the decision was reached during a parliamentary meeting, following weeks of resignations from the PDP and consultations with supporters, political associates, and key stakeholders.

The lawmakers said their decision was driven by a desire to align with a party that reflects their values and offers a more stable, inclusive, and people-centred platform for serving the people of Osun State.

They stressed that the move is aimed at advancing collective interests and sustaining development across the state.

Following the parliamentary session, the lawmakers met with Governor Ademola Adeleke and top Accord leaders at the Banquet Hall, where the formal declaration was officially made.

They reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Governor and reiterated their commitment to quality representation, transparency, and responsive leadership.

The lawmakers also urged their supporters and well-wishers to remain steadfast as they embark on this new political chapter stressing that their move to join the Governor’s party is intended to ensure continuity in governance and accelerate development for the people of Osun State.
