The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to gain international recognition as Nigeria’s House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Oluwole Oke, showcased the government’s sweeping economic reforms at the 2025 Global South Legislators Summit held in Urumqi, China.
Hon. Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, highlighted Tinubu’s policies on ease of doing business, tax administration, and economic diversification, stressing that they are already improving Nigeria’s business environment and attracting foreign direct investment.
He urged participating nations to support Nigeria’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, noting that Africa’s voice must be represented in global peace and security decisions.
Commending China for its leadership role in advancing South–South cooperation, Oke praised the country’s investments in infrastructure, technology transfer, vocational training, and concessional financing, describing them as “lifelines” that have enhanced Africa’s trade, connectivity, and industrial growth.
He further invited Chinese investors to explore Nigeria’s aviation, energy, and agricultural sectors, assuring that the nation remains open for business with guarantees of fair returns on investment.

“Global South cooperation should not be about politics alone,” Oke said. “It must deliver economic growth, technology transfer, climate action, and prosperity for our people. Nigeria values China’s example of using innovation and long-term planning to lift millions out of poverty. We seek to learn from this model and deepen our partnership for mutual benefit.”
The Veteran lawmaker called for stronger inter-parliamentary collaboration, harmonized trade policies, and enhanced oversight to ensure transparent, people-centered agreements among developing nations.
He urged delegates to transform parliamentary friendships into frameworks for inclusive growth, emphasizing that the Global South must not only remain a voice for change but become a driver of sustainable development and a model for future generations.
