The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against politicising Nigeria’s security challenges.
In a statement on Monday night, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned ADC’s remarks over the killings of worshippers in Malumfashi, Katsina State.
The ADC had accused President Bola Tinubu of neglecting the worsening insecurity while frequently travelling abroad and demanded a state of emergency in Katsina and Zamfara States.
Morka described the opposition party’s comments as “insensitive and opportunistic,” insisting that national tragedies should not be exploited for political gain.
He argued that the fight against terrorism requires unity and support for security forces on the frontlines, not partisan attacks.
He also dismissed ADC’s criticism of President Tinubu’s foreign trips, saying the claim showed “a lack of understanding of governance.”
According to him, the Tinubu administration has made significant strides in tackling insecurity, citing recent successes such as the capture of Boko Haram founder’s son and Ansaru leaders in a joint Nigeria–Chad operation.
The APC maintained that President Tinubu remains fully committed to the safety of Nigerians, pointing to new security deployments, technological upgrades, increased defence spending, regional intelligence-sharing, and community-based initiatives as evidence of his government’s approach.
Morka urged the ADC to focus on fixing its internal challenges instead of “chasing shadows” with propaganda.
