Party Chieftain Confident of Victory, Urges Voters to register ahead of polls

‎‎‎‎‎‎A leading figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Honourable Israel Ajibola Famurewa, says residents are eager for the party’s return to power in the 2026 governorship election.‎‎

Famurewa, the immediate past Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), stated that the APC’s priority is to clinch victory in the polls.

‎‎Speaking on a Yoruba current affairs programme on Uniq FM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, he maintained that all  APC governorship aspirants are well-qualified and would deliver better governance than the current administration.‎‎

He disclosed that party stakeholders have already met with the aspirants to secure their commitment to support whoever emerges as the APC’s candidate in the primary.‎‎

Addressing speculation about Governor Ademola Adeleke’s rumoured plan to defect to the APC, a development that had stirred political debate in Osun, Famurewa alleged that the governor is “looking for a place to hide” amid internal crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

‎‎He claimed Adeleke had not formally engaged APC leaders in Osun on the matter, describing the move as desperate.‎‎

Famurewa also accused certain outsiders of attempting to tarnish the APC’s image by suggesting the party and President Bola Tinubu are courting Adeleke.

‎‎The APC chieftain, who attributed recent waves of political defections to the “good works” of President Tinubu, insisted that no one is being compelled to join the party.

‎‎He expressed confidence that the president would secure re-election in 2027 with the backing of Nigerians.‎‎

Famurewa urged eligible citizens to participate in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) voter registration exercise from August 18 to 25, 2025, stressing that active voter participation would be key to voting out the current administration in Osun State and restoring the APC to power.‎‎‎
