The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rape two women he caught plucking pepper on a farm.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, the farm did not belong to the suspect.
However, after apprehending the women, he threatened to hand them over to security agents unless they agreed to have sexual relations with him.
Adeleke explained that one of the women managed to escape, while the suspect assaulted the other and attempted to have carnal knowledge of her.
“According to his confession, the suspect saw the two women plucking pepper on a farm at Ita-Olokan, Osogbo, and questioned them. He then threatened to report them unless they submitted to him. The women pleaded with him, but he insisted on having sex with both of them,” Adeleke said.
The statement added that during the struggle, one woman fled, while the suspect pushed the other to the ground. He claimed he did not complete the act, saying he only laid on her and ejaculated quickly because he feared the escaped woman might raise an alarm.
In a separate case, the NSCDC also arraigned two individuals for encroaching on government land at Oke-Osun, where they allegedly destroyed demarcations and excavated sand for sale.
The Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, reiterated the agency’s commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities.
