The Presidency has debunked rumours suggesting the removal of Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), reaffirming that there has been no change in his status.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
Describing the reports as false and mischievous, Onanuga urged Nigerians to disregard what he termed “fake news” orchestrated by agents of mischief.“
There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement read.
The clarification comes amid social media speculation and unverified reports claiming that Akume had been replaced.
