The Presidency has strongly denied circulating reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima was recently denied access to the Presidential Villa.
In a statement released on Saturday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), the report was described as “mischievous” and “totally fabricated.”
The statement addressed what it termed a growing trend of “deliberate and well-planned orchestration of falsehood” aimed at sowing discord within the top ranks of Nigeria’s leadership.
The latest claim, alleging that armed military personnel barricaded the Vice President from entering the Villa, was dismissed as “the wildest expression of wishful thinking” and “a story so far removed from reality.”
“For the record, NOTHING OF THE SORT EVER HAPPENED,” the statement read emphatically.
Nkwocha noted that these efforts are part of a broader campaign to “cause confusion and insinuate total clash in the Presidency.”
He emphasized the strong bond and cooperation between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, adding that attempts to suggest otherwise have repeatedly failed.
“The Vice President remains focused on his duties and on supporting the President in achieving the aspirations of Nigerians. He does not have the luxury of time for distractions, particularly those born of the imagination of individuals intent on creating smoke where there is no fire,” Nkwocha stated.
The statement also referenced earlier fake news surrounding campaign posters and dismissed them as baseless attempts to undermine the integrity of the current administration.
Calling on the public and the media to rely on credible sources, the Presidency urged Nigerians to reject the spread of falsehoods and stand firm in defending the nation’s democratic mandate.
The Presidency expressed appreciation to citizens who have continued to support the government and resist the spread of misinformation, reaffirming that such unity is essential in safeguarding the country’s democratic foundation.
