Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially launched Osunwon Imole, a newly introduced standard measuring bowl aimed at promoting fairness in market transactions across the state.
Speaking at the event, held on Monday at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, Governor Adeleke described the Osunwon Imole as a clear demonstration of his “administration’s commitment to fairness, accuracy, and transparency in daily trade” throughout Osun State.
Represented by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, the Governor emphasized that “it is more than just a measuring bowl – it symbolises our dedication to improving the quality of life for our people and ensuring that everyone gets fair value for their money.”
He lamented the long-standing challenges faced by both buyers and sellers due to the use of substandard measuring bowls, stating, “For too long, the use of substandard measuring bowls in our markets has caused untold hardship for both buyers and sellers. Many of our traders, knowingly or unknowingly, have used inaccurate measures that lead to losses for consumers and undermine trust in business transactions.”
Acknowledging this issue, he added, “Recognising this challenge, our administration has taken decisive action by introducing Osunwon Imole to restore fairness in trade and protect the interests of all stakeholders.”
The Governor further stressed the importance of standardization, noting that “it builds trust, enhances efficiency, and makes our markets more competitive. By adopting Osunwon Imole, we are sending a strong message that Osun State is committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and integrity.”
He explained that this initiative aligns with the government’s broader mission to “foster a thriving business environment, encourage investments, and promote sustainable economic growth. The Osunwon Imole will serve as a reliable and accurate measuring tool for our market men and women, ensuring consistency in trade practices.”

The Governor highlighted that the new measuring bowl will “eliminate discrepancies, promote transparency, and strengthen trust between buyers and sellers. This will not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the overall economic stability of our state.”
He urged market leaders and traders ” Iyalojas, Babalojas, Egbe-Olowo, and all others who use measuring bowls in their businesses” to embrace the change, “Let us work together to phase out the old congo measuring system and fully adopt Osunwon Imole. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring that the benefits of this initiative reach every corner of our state.”
The Governor expressed confidence that the initiative would transform market practices, stating, “I am confident that Osunwon Imole will be a game-changer for Osun State. It will not only improve market practices but also boost public confidence in our trade systems. I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our economy.”
In his welcome remarks, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, described the Osunwon Imole as a symbol of “progress, precision, and empowerment,” emphasizing that thriving communities rely on systems that promote “fairness, consistency, and reliability in every transaction, as contained in the Holy Bible and Quran.”
He added, “this is why the State government under the administration of the Governor deemed it fit to produce the Osunwon Imole as a reflection of our commitment to improving our economy, ensure fair trade practices, and foster trust between traders and consumers.”
