Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has addressed speculations surrounding his recent use of a walking stick, clarifying that it is a traditional symbol of his status as the Asiwaju of Edeland, not an indication of ill health.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke assured the public that he remains in good health and is physically fit.

He explained that walking sticks are widely recognized as a sign of dignity and authority, particularly among high-ranking individuals in society.

“I am hale and hearty. I am not sick in whatever way. The walking stick is part of the paraphernalia of my office as the Asiwaju of Edeland. It is also a common accessory in many parts of the country,” the governor stated.

Governor Adeleke further disclosed that his first walking stick was a gift from Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, during a state visit.

He added that at the recent Governors’ Forum meeting in Asaba, the host governor presented all governors with walking sticks, which they proudly used.

“In the South-East and South-South regions, walking sticks are part of daily fashion and outings. So, there is nothing extraordinary about my usage of one,” he explained.

Reassuring the people of Osun State, Governor Adeleke emphasized that there are no concerns about his health.

“My people should rest assured that their governor is well and has no health challenges,” he affirmed.

The statement aims to put to rest speculations regarding the governor’s well-being and reinforce his commitment to serving the state in good health and strength.
