The Alamuye of Amuye-Faforiji Ijesa, Oba Dr Adebayo Faforiji has warned youths against get-rich-quick syndrome because it is the cause of criminal activities in the country.
The Monarch who stated this in Ilesa during an interview on Uniq FM called on youths to take positive steps towards reforming the society from inside out.
“It is pity we have these kind of trends in our society today. Their thinking about life is different from how it was during our time
” Our fathers taught us hardwork as the right path to success and it helped us a lot going forward
Oba Faforiji said Nigerian youths must desist from taking the fast route to achieve success saying the desperate quest by Nigerian youths to get rich quick has pushed many into committing crimes.
“How will a child of 15, 16, 17 years be looking for means to buy a Mercedes Benz car, where did he get that kind of thought driving them to be engaged in ritual killings, Yahoo plus, it is very sad for our society “
Lamenting the increasing trend in the involvement of the Nigerian youth in internet-related crimes, Oba Faforiji challenged them to re-direct their energy into positive activities that will benefit them and the Nigerian nation.
He added that with diligence and persistence success was sure for them rather than engage in crime which may in turn cut short their dreams.
Oba Faforiji challenged parents to desist from pushing their kids into committing crimes saying it will increase social vices in the society
“We parents have to double our efforts in saving the future of our children, we must commend parents who reject illegally procured properties from their kids”
