Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, says his administration has intensified security surveillance and coordination across border communities following the deadly attack that claimed scores of lives in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In a post on X today, the governor said heightened security operations were already underway in areas such as Ora and other adjoining communities to prevent any spillover of violence into Osun and to safeguard lives and property.

Governor Adeleke who expressed deep condolences to his Kwara State counterpart, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the government and people of the State, and families of the victims of the massacre prayed for comfort for the bereaved and quick recovery for those injured.

The governor, however, raised concern that Osun’s security preparedness was being undermined by the continued sealing of the Amotekun Corps headquarters by the police, describing the situation as a major setback for intelligence gathering and response in rural areas.

He urged the Inspector General of Police Mr Kayode Egbetokun to immediately unseal the Amotekun office and charge detained Amotekun officers to court, noting that they had been held for several months without trial.

According to him, the delay poses “grave risks” to rural communities and has created security gaps that criminals are exploiting.

Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to regional collaboration, proactive security measures, and the deployment of lawful structures to protect residents, particularly in the grassroots.
