Osun State Government has announced that it will begin the issuance of appointment letters to newly recruited secondary school teachers, following a seven-day ultimatum from the Member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oluwole Oke.

The Veteran Lawmaker had earlier drawn attention to the prolonged and unjustifiable delay in the recruitment exercise and the retention of application fees collected from thousands of applicants nearly two years ago even as He demanded that within seven days, the state must either complete the recruitment process including the reinstatement of disengaged teachers or refund all application fees and regularize the process in accordance with existing laws.

The development follows a directive reportedly issued by Governor Ademola Adeleke to the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, to commence issuing appointment letters to the first batch of successful applicants.

Hon. Oke emphasized that this positive outcome is the result of sustained public advocacy and the collective pressure of affected applicants and concerned citizens across Osun State.

The lawmaker reiterated his firm position that the recruitment of secondary school teachers must remain transparent, timely, and strictly merit-based.

He further clarified that the recruitment of primary school teachers remains the exclusive constitutional responsibility of Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), and any fees collected outside this framework must be fully refunded.

Hon. Oke who is the Chairman House Committee on Foreign Affairs stressed that this intervention was never politically motivated but rooted in the pursuit of justice, fairness, and accountability in governance.

He urged the Osun State Government to ensure the recruitment process is comprehensive, transparent, and sustained, rather than a piecemeal response to public pressure, noting that the people of Osun State deserve a system that restores confidence, dignity, and trust in public institutions.
