Recruitment Stalemate: Federal Rep Gives Osun Govt One-Week Deadline, Wants Applicants’ Money Returned

The lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Oluwole Oke, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Osun State Government over the prolonged delay in the recruitment of secondary school teachers.

He said nearly two years after thousands of applicants paid application fees for the teaching positions, the recruitment exercise has remained inconclusive.

The Veteran Lawmaker described the situation as unfair and inconsistent saying many applicants have suffered needless uncertainty and economic hardship because the state government has failed to either complete the recruitment process or refund the money collected.

Honourable Wole Oke who is the Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs is demanding that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration begin and conclude the recruitment of qualified teachers, including reinstating teachers disengaged by the current administration and ensuring fair placement of all applicants or Refund the application fees in full to every affected applicant.

The Lawmaker warned that failure to comply may lead applicants and stakeholders to seek legal redress.

He also clarified that the recruitment of primary school teachers is the statutory duty of Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) adding that Any fees collected outside this legal framework, he said, are unlawful and must be returned immediately.

Emphasizing that governance must uphold the rule of law, accountability, and compassion, Hon. Oke urged the Osun State Government to act swiftly to correct the situation and restore public confidence.
