Hon. Wole Oke Elected Chairman of Africa Chapter of APNIFFT at Continental Conference in South Africa‎

‎‎‎The President of the Nigerian Caucus of the African Parliamentary Network on Illicit Financial Flows and Taxation (APNIFFT), Honourable Busayo Oluwole Oke, has been elected as the Chairman of the Africa Chapter and a Council Member of the APNIFFT Continental Body.

‎‎This was confirmed during the 2025 APNIFFT Continental Conference held from October 13th to 15th, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa, with participants drawn from across the continent, including lawmakers, civil society leaders, and tax justice experts.‎‎

The conference, jointly organized by APNIFFT and the Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA), commemorated a decade of parliamentary action against illicit financial flows (IFFs) and explored new strategies for advancing tax justice under the theme: “A Decade of Combating Illicit Financial Flows and Advancing Tax Justice: Reflection, Innovation, and Political Will.”‎‎

In a letter jointly signed by Ms. Chenai Mukumba, Executive Director of TJNA, and Dr. Khanyisile Litchfield Tshabalala, Chair of the APNIFFT Steering Council, Hon. Oke was lauded for his consistent advocacy for transparency, accountability, and domestic resource mobilization in Nigeria and across Africa.‎‎

The event, which took place at The Capital On The Park, Sandton, South Africa, also provided a platform for delegates to reflect on APNIFFT’s achievements over the past decade and to chart a new strategic direction for the network.‎ Discussions focused on strengthening political will, fostering innovation, and enhancing Africa’s participation in global tax reforms.‎‎
