The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a hike in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with effect from Monday, September 1, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Akinlabi, the new fees will apply only to applications made within Nigeria.
Under the new arrangement, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will attract a fee of ₦200,000.
The statement clarified that application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged—$150 for the 32-page, five-year passport and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year passport.
According to the NIS, the adjustment is aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring accessibility for citizens.
