Says Oyetola has not anointed any aspirant, vows to rescue state from misrule

‎Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, says his wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors has adequately prepared him to govern the state, as he formally declared his ambition to contest the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

‎Alabi, who announced his bid on Wednesday in Osogbo during a media parley, maintained that he possesses the competence, vision, and political structure to secure his party’s ticket and lead Osun.

‎He stressed that his political machinery is strong enough to win the primaries, but assured that all aspirants would rally behind whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer.

‎According to him, the collective goal is to rescue the people of Osun from what he described as the misrule of the current administration.

‎Addressing speculations surrounding the former governor, Alabi dismissed claims that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, had anointed a preferred aspirant for the election.

‎He explained that Oyetola, while exercising his right of first refusal, had openly given his blessings to all aspirants, describing the rumours as unfounded and misleading.

‎The Ikire-born politician further disclosed that he had undertaken wide consultations with stakeholders ahead of his declaration, adding that he will begin a statewide consultation tour across the federal constituencies of the state on Monday, September 1, 2025.
