The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the temporary withdrawal of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.
In a press release issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the examination body explained that the problem arose after implementing a new innovation called “paper serialization” in subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics, aimed at curbing examination malpractice.
However, a post-release assessment revealed technical bugs that affected the accuracy of some results.
As a result, WAEC has temporarily disabled access to the result checker portal while it works to resolve the glitches.
Affected candidates are advised to re-check their results after 24 hours.
“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public,” said Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs.
“We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency.”
WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, fairness, and excellence in its assessment processes and assured stakeholders of timely resolution.
