‎‎‎‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun demanding the probe, transfer, and sanction of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adefisoye Kazeem, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor Ademola Adeleke, over the alleged illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Rasaq Dolapo Gafar popularly known as Ifedolapo Osun

According to a statement by the party Spokesperson, Chief Kola Olabisi, Mr Gafar, a member of the APC media team, was arrested on August 4, 2025, by a team of masked police officers allegedly led by CSP Adefisoye. ‎‎

The APC alleged that Gafar was manhandled and taken without a prior invitation or warrant, first to a divisional police station at Orita Challenge and later to the SWAT office in Ibadan, where he was detained and allegedly denied access to legal representation.

‎‎He was arraigned the following day, August 5, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan.‎‎

The party further claimed that the petition leading to Gafar’s arrest was authored and signed by CSP Adefisoye himself, describing it as a violation of police professional ethics.‎‎

It also alleged that the CSO has compiled a list of other APC media members for arrest.‎‎

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state dismissed the APC’s claims, describing them as “laughable.”‎‎

The Ruling Party in Osun maintained that the CSO acted in response to a perceived threat to the governor’s life.‎‎

In a statement signed by its Director of Media, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the PDP said the role of the CSO includes proactive protection of the governor, adding that security agencies should act swiftly in such cases.‎‎

The party also cautioned the Inspector-General of Police against allowing himself to be influenced by political pressure, urging him to resist any move capable of undermining security in the state.‎‎

While the APC is calling for disciplinary measures against the CSO and other unnamed officers involved in the arrest, the PDP is demanding an expanded investigation into what it describes as threats emanating from some APC members.‎‎
