The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi, has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke will contest and win re-election under the PDP in the 2026 governorship election.
He made this known during a leadership meeting hosted by the PDP in Atakunmosa East Local Government on Thursday.
Delivering Governor Adeleke’s goodwill message, Hon. Bisi lauded the steadfastness of party leaders and members in Atakunmosa East despite recent political defections. “Let me set the record straight,” he said, “In 2018, despite having no Senator or House of Reps member, the PDP defeated the then incumbent APC in the state. Again, in 2022, Governor Ademola Adeleke defeated the same Oyetola who was an incumbent. By God’s grace, Governor Adeleke remains PDP’s leader and will win re-election under our platform.”

The meeting, convened under the leadership of Comrade Fatai Babatunde, Chairman of Atakunmosa East PDP, was aimed at reaffirming support for Governor Adeleke’s administration and future candidacy.
Comrade Babatunde praised party stakeholders for their resilience and vowed that the defection of a former party leader, Hon. Sanya Omirin, to the APC would not deter Atakumosa East’s loyalty to the PDP.

In a show of unity and strategic repositioning, the gathering formally announced Hon. Mrs. Emiola Oriowo Fakeye, a former federal lawmaker and current Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke on Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), as the overall leader of the PDP in Atakunmosa East.
Various top government officials present at the meeting, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dosu Babatunde, and Commissioner for Health, Hon. Jola Moses Akintola, Lawmaker Representing Atakumosa State Constituency Honourable Sanmi Areoye urged party members to remain focused and not be distracted by opposition propaganda or defections.
They emphasized the importance of sustaining unity and delivering victory for the PDP and Governor Adeleke in the coming polls.

The Chairman of Atakunmosa East LG, Hon. Alade Ibironke, also warned against intimidation by opposition forces allegedly planning to use federal might to rig the 2026 election.
He reassured party faithful that the PDP remains the party of the people and will retain power through performance and popular support.

Alhaji Kusamot Adegbite, LGEA Chairman and a respected party elder, along with the most senior party leader in the LG, Pa Sanmi Ogunyemi reaffirmed the call for loyalty and persistence.
Pa Ogunyemi noted that Adeleke’s performance across the state speaks volumes and predicted his re-election “as God liveth.”
The well-attended gathering included all ten Ward Chairmen, Local Government Executive members, and State Officers from Atakunmosa East, who all reaffirmed their allegiance to the PDP and its leadership.
