‎ ‎‎‎‎The Constituency Office of the House of Representatives Member from Obokun Oriade in Osun State, Honourable Busayo Oluwole Oke has reacted to the recent remarks by a  legal practitioner, Pelumi Olajengbesi, describing them as baseless and a reflection of political immaturity.

‎‎In a release signed by the Public and Media Communication Unit of Ijesa North Federal Constituency Office on Wednesday, Olajengbesi’s claims were dismissed as a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant. ‎‎

The statement came in response to Olajengbesi’s post on his social media platform, where he described Hon. Wole Oke as “a political irritant living off public funds.”‎‎

The release defended Hon. Oke’s long-standing political career, noting that his continued re-election is a result of public trust and consistent delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.‎‎

“Longevity in office is not a crime. It is the people’s mandate that has kept Hon. Oke in service over the years,” the statement read.

“Those who lack grassroots support often resort to name-calling and social media attacks.”‎‎

While responding to allegations of political ambition driven by self-interest, the statement said Hon. Oke’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a strategic decision prompted by internal disloyalty within the party, not a hunger for power.‎‎

The statement further criticized Olajengbesi’s political posture, warning that his confrontational approach may alienate him from the electorate and hinder his political growth.‎‎

“If he wishes to challenge Hon. Oke, he should go to the field and engage the people rather than hiding behind press statements,” the release added.

‎‎The release also questioned Olajengbesi’s record in public service, noting that beyond activism and media engagement, he has yet to demonstrate significant contributions to his constituency.

‎‎You will recall that Hon. Wole Oke, a veteran federal lawmaker recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress APC  signaling a significant political realignment ahead of the August 8 Governorship Election in Osun State.‎
