Go around the mansions built by the so-called business magnate who profited from the government. Go around Nigeria, and you will see them in dilapidated states.
Most of those mansions that were once like Mecca have been deserted. It is as if their children are not interested. Many have left home to chart their own path.
Vanity upon vanity builds a nation and not a mansion. The Oduduwa Nation must be different. Let the mindset begin now.
We saw and lived in the Western Region, where we witnessed firsthand its pioneering achievements in various fields. We remember when it was a beacon of excellence, leading the way in Africa in education, culture, and innovation. That is what we must envisage a sovereign Oduduwa Nation to be, a hub of progress, a centre of excellence, and a shining example for others to follow.
We must prioritise the development of our nation, investing in infrastructure, education, and the welfare of our people.
By doing so, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.
It is time to shift our focus from individual grandeur to collective progress. We were Yoruba Nigerians until we went on with one Nigeria. A despicable state where we see ourselves first before we even remember that we are Yoruba first.
The Oduduwa Nation will be a beacon of hope and prosperity, but it requires a fundamental change in our values and priorities. We must think Yoruba first with indomitable spirit, generous nature, and altruistic mindset.
