The Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria, where he will face charges for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan.
According to a release issued today by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extradition was completed in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, following intense collaboration between the NPF, INTERPOL, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari judicial authorities.
The extradition followed a petition submitted by the victim’s family through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024.
INTERPOL NCB Abuja was assigned the case and investigations confirmed that Nnayereugo murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos.
He fled the country afterward and later released a misleading video confessing to the crime in a bid to obstruct investigations.
Declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global arrest.
He was first apprehended in Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, under the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but escaped custody during a prison break in Freetown on November 26.
Further intelligence revealed that he moved across multiple regions using forged identities, eventually arriving in Doha on January 24, 2025, under the name “Toure Abdoulaye” with a fake Guinean passport.
He secured illegal employment and kept a low profile until INTERPOL NCB Doha, aided by biometric data, confirmed his identity.
He was arrested by Qatari authorities in February 2025.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun who expressed gratitude to the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Qatari government, INTERPOL, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their collaborative efforts assured the public of a thorough prosecution process to ensure justice is served.
