Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), distancing himself from speculation and political name-dropping.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Thursday, Buhari declared that he remains a loyal member of the APC and wants to be recognized as such.

“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularise the party by all means,” Buhari stated.

Without mentioning any specific individuals or ongoing party debates, the former president emphasized that he holds deep gratitude for the party’s support throughout his two-term presidency — an opportunity he described as the highest honor.

Buhari further acknowledged the efforts of the APC’s founding fathers in establishing a resilient political platform, highlighting their sacrifices as essential to preserving Nigeria’s constitution and democratic system.

“The pains taken by the founding fathers to establish a strong party to protect our constitution and democracy as a system of government are worthy sacrifices that should be cherished and nurtured,” he added.

The statement comes amid ongoing speculations that the Former President is planning to dump the ruling party and work with a coalition already been worked out by the Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election
