In preparation for the 2024 Osun-Osogbo Festival, the Osun State government has assured tourists of comprehensive security measures.
The State Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Hon. Abiodun Ojo, provided these assurances during a press briefing in Osogbo, the state capital, on Wednesday.
He highlighted the ongoing efforts by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to prioritize the safety of both residents and visitors.
Hon. Ojo emphasized that the government has made substantial arrangements to ensure a secure environment throughout the festival, which will culminate in August.
Hon. Ojo also noted that the state government is committed to creating a conducive atmosphere for social and economic activities.
This includes facilitating smooth traffic flow and ensuring that the crowd management during the festival’s grand finale is well-organized.
He urged tourists from around the world to behave responsibly and respect local norms during their visit.
The Commissioner further described the Osun-Osogbo Festival as a key attraction, with the region’s extensive natural forest and unaltered landscapes contributing to its appeal.
He mentioned that the government is working on digitizing the festival for enhanced promotion.
Hon. Ojo reiterated the administration’s commitment to boosting the state’s internally generated revenue through tourism and preserving its cultural heritage.
He detailed the government’s plan to develop Osun’s tourism sector systematically, noting that while there are about 60 tourist centers in the state, focus will initially be on 16 major sites.
