Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum Hope Uzodimma, has expressed opposition to the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August, arguing that the timing is inappropriate.

Speaking after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Uzodimma emphasized that the Federal Government is actively working on measures to address the current economic challenges and appealed to Nigerians to avoid actions that might exacerbate the situation.

Uzodimma criticized the lack of specific demands from the protest organizers, pointing out that no clear issues or solutions have been presented.

He cautioned against the potential for protests to be exploited by criminals, drawing parallels to the #EndSARS movement of 2020.

The governor urged that any protest should be well-organized and focused on tangible objectives.
