Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organization in the 2023 Presidential election, has publicly criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s support for the proposed nationwide protest.

Speaking to reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Bwala called the planned protest unnecessary and politically motivated.

Bwala urged opposition party members to set aside political differences and support President Tinubu in his efforts to transform Nigeria’s economy.

He appealed to Nigerians to give the President more time to achieve his goals, acknowledging that Tinubu is aware of the economic hardships facing the country.

“I was pleased to meet with Mr. President today and show solidarity for his dedicated efforts to address the problems facing Nigerians. He is genuinely concerned about the plight of our people and is working hard to find solutions,” Bwala stated. “Let us keep faith and hope alive, knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

While Bwala recognized the constitutional right of citizens to peaceful protests, he warned that a nationwide protest might not end peacefully.

In addition, Bwala announced his departure from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his imminent re-entry into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), where he was previously a member before joining the PDP in 2022.

Reports indicate that youths are planning a nationwide protest between August 1 and 15 to address the rising cost of living and economic challenges.

Atiku Abubakar has supported the right of Nigerians to organize peaceful protests, criticizing the current administration for attempting to suppress these rights.
