A middle-aged man identified as Mr. Gbenga Amogunduro, popularly known as AMOG, was reportedly killed in his home in Ilesa West, Osun State, on Monday, April 25, 2022, around 8 pm
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred in the presence of his wife and children. Mr. Amogunduro, a member of the PDP campaign committee, was allegedly shot at close range by suspected political thugs said to be linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The attack reportedly caused panic in the area as multiple gunshots were heard, forcing residents to flee for safety.
Mr. Amogunduro was immediately rushed to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has called for calm among residents, assuring the public that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators behind the killing.
